Aerag: Antenna Array

May 9, 2026

The Aerag: Antenna Array sits on top of the 20U, 600×600mm, Twoaie: Network Rack in the NOC (Network Operations Centre) at Baarool Lab to improve the performance and efficiency of the Grinney: Gateway Cluster — with two Teltonika TRB501 Units — located in RU 18 of the Twoaie: Network Rack.

The Aerag: Antenna Array is built around a freestanding monitor stand by VIVO. The pole measures ø34mm×460mm. Attached to the stand are two "Poynting MIMO-4-4-V2 Antennas" using the supplied brackets. These heavy duty, compact 4×4 MIMO dome antennas measure ø170mm×69mm.

The Poynting MIMO-4-4-V2 is a high-performance, multi-frequency antenna designed for LTE and 5G connectivity, supporting a wide frequency range from 617 MHz to 6000 MHz. It features four cellular MIMO antennas housed in a single enclosure, that provides excellent performance for each of the Teltonika TRB501 Units that require 4×4 MIMO.

Each antenna is pre-terminated with four 2m cables that can handle four concurrent data streams. The cables from each of the antenna that connect to the Grinney: Gateway Cluster are routed though the left and right rubber grommets at the back of the top shelf of the Twoaie: Network Rack and connect to the respective gateway with SMA male connectors.
